Girls in the Windows, 1960
Ormond Gigli dreamed up this photo when he realized a brownstone across from his New York apartment was being demolished. He quickly organized 43 models in formal attire to pose in the windows and ended up with an iconic photo that perfectly captures 1960′s architecture, fashion and colour.

TFiOS and an open window to hear the storm. That’s all I need.
Sleep is for wimps and high school students.
The end of an era! Thespian of the Year, lunch with Waldo, and a great Finale with all my SOS seniors.
After a whole lot of sun and socializing the last few days, I’m just going to set myself down and watch East of Eden and relax. Whew.

Tonight was the senior banquet for my choir and our director, though she isn’t fond of our class, called up each graduating student along with their parents for a goodbye speech. My mom is in Florida so I went up alone, and upon seeing this, two of my classmates, Dan and Caleb, came up and stood in as my “dads”. It was absolutely hilarious and exactly the reason I love this senior class. No matter what our directors say, we are incredibly supportive of each other.
Our class song is “I’ll Be There For You” from Friends. Though it was chosen because we’re sick of sad senior songs, I think it applies. It’s very difficult to be told by your teachers and the people that you look up to that you failed. It is even harder when I feel closer to this group of people than I have any other year in choir.
So what I realized tonight is that I don’t need validation from any outside source to feel proud of my classmates. I will look back on my years in Sounds of South positively, as I think you should always do. Life is too short to dwell on what could have been. Rather, I’d like to celebrate our triumphs. Second in the state (the best placement since ‘89), two amazing musicals (West Side Story and Godspell) and learning that every experience is exactly what you make it. For me, this was a great year. And that’s enough.

I think…. I love you.
